Ebay Sets Up New International Advertising Division

EBay eBay has launched an international business division at its headquarters in Bern, Switzerland, in an attempt to encourage advertisers to take advantage of the site’s global reach.

The division will be responsible for looking after clients who want to reach eBay’s global audience, which is estimated to be at around 80 million users, according to reports.

Advertisers and media agencies will be able to plan targeted multi-territory campaigns across eBay’s global sites directly with the division.

The international division is set to act as an umbrella for both local ad sales teams and ad sales houses, as well as offering services such as marketing, analytics and sales support.

eBay Advertising International will be headed up by Christian Kunz, while Philip Rinn runs the international sales bureau in London.

Kunz said: “At Ebay Advertising, we have a unique offering of the largest collection of category channels and unrivalled product transaction data, enabling brands to get closer to slaes by directly targeting consumers with a high propensity to buy.”

He added: “We have noticed increasing demand from advertisers and agencies to create a one-stop shop, enabling them to reach mulitple markets more smoothly.”

eBay has also launched a resource centre to persuade advertisers of the reach and powers of its campaigns, in support of the new international division.

In a study released by Nielsen yesterday, eBay came 2nd as the most popular UK website, with more than 15 million users – up by 9% year on year (see Google Races Ahead As Most Popular Website).
