EMAP plc has today announced it has acquired the construction information business Glenigan Ltd and its UK subsidiaries from the Thomson Corporation, for £17.7 million cash.
EMAP has also taken an option to purchase Newmarket Limited, Glenigan’s Dublin based subsidiary which provides construction information in Southern Ireland.
EMAP’s existing interests in the sector include the weeklies, Construction News, Architect’s Journal and New Civil Engineer, and building product publications Heating and Ventilation News and Refrigeration and Air Conditioning.
Today’s acquisition follows EMAP’s purchase last year of Construction News from Thomson, and the business publishing interests of the Institution of Civil Engineers. David Arculus, Group Managing Director of Emap said, “Glenigan will add significant data resources and subscription customers to our existing interests”.
