Eve Magazine Closes

Haymarket Logo Haymarket Media Group has officially closed its women’s monthly magazine Eve and associate brands today.

After a period of consultation and a strategic review at Haymarket, the group failed to find a buyer for the magazine and were forced to close the title.

A Haymarket spokesperson said: “We can today regrettably confirm the closure of women’s title Eve and its associated brand activities.”

However, the brand extension Evecars.com will continue to operate.

The group have redeployed 10 staff from Eve but the majority of workers at the magazine have been made redundant as a result of the closure.

Haymarket Media Group acquired Eve from BBC Worldwide in January 2005 but despite its revamp in May 2008, the magazine’s circulation has contiuned to decline.

In the latest ABCs, Eve reported a 5.1% year on year decline, losing more than 8000 copies, leaving it with a total circulation of just over 155,000 copies (see ABC Results Jan-Jun 2008:Glamour Takes The Lead In The Women’s Monthly Sector).
