Five Secures Black & Decker For Hot Property Sponsorship
![]()
Channel Five has secured Black & Decker as the sponsor of its Hot Property show, which gives viewers the opportunity to win a home if they can guess how much it costs.
The sponsorship, which will run throughout the thirteen week series, will include break bumpers and Black & Decker branding throughout adverts for the show. In addition, Black & Decker will be highlighting the sponsorship with an in-store promotion featuring the show’s presenter Alice Beer, in which viewers have the chance to win a home or Black & Decker merchandise.
The sponsorship deal was negotiated by Rachael Wheeler, sponsorship manager at Five and Kathryn McDonagh at Odyssey Promotion on behalf of Black & Decker.
Geoff Mullin, commercial director of Black and Decker, commented: “We are extremely pleased to be sponsoring Hot Property on Five and this is part of our sales promotion campaign to drive footfall in DIY retailers and increase awareness of our brand.”
Channel Five is currently searching for headline sponsorship for one of its most popular early evening shows, Australian soap Home and Away. The show’s current sponsorship deal with Bodyform has recently come to an end.
The future of the UK’s fifth terrestrial broadcaster has been the subject of immense speculation following the publication of the Communications Bill. However, the Government’s plans to relax the media ownership regulations to allow major newspaper groups to buy Channel Five could face defeat in the House of Lords, according to influential Labour peer, David Puttnam (see Puttnam Warns Of Defeat Over Channel Five Ownership).
