The mighty Coronation Street managed to beat the pretty average football match on BBC One last night, with a peak of 7.6 million adults tuning in for their latest dose of life oop north.
An average of 7.5 million adults (a 36.6% share of viewers) stuck with the show throughout its hour long running time, with Roy’s rolls obviously more appealing than Ballack’s balls.
The European Championship Football match on BBC One was Austria v Germany, and while the standard of play was not quite what we have come to expect from the tournament, it still had its moments, not least Michael Ballack’s excellent free kick which proved to be the difference between the teams in the 1-0 win for Germany.
A peak of 5.2 million adults watched the match (a 23.9% share), on from 7.30pm until 10pm, with an average of 4.3 million sticking around for all of the coverage.
Big Brother, meanwhile, on Channel 4 at 10pm, had a peak of 2.6 million adults (a 16% share), while an average of 2.5 million stuck with it for its hour duration.
