Ford Named As Heat Radio VIP Advertiser

Digital Radio Heat radio has signed Ford as one of five VIP advertisers for its relaunch on September 25.

The six-figure, twelve month deal will see Ford partner heat radio for the weekday morning 9am to 12pm show presented by Paul Coyte.

The national digital station, which is currently an automated jukebox, will be relaunched with an “exclusive club” of five clients whose advertising will be worked into the station’s content.

Karen Stacey, Emap Advertising’s director of interactive and radio sales, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Ford to all new heat radio. As advertisers try to connect with their consumers at a deeper level it becomes increasingly more important to innovate in product and content. Ford is a great brand for our consumers to interact with across all of heat’s platforms.

“Consumers and advertisers want more heat – and with heat radio they will be able to get the sound of heat all through the week.”

Ford’s partnership with heat radio will be complemented by cross media activity with www.heatworld.com and was arranged by Will Spence at MindShare.

heat radio will be the first in a number of branded Emap lifestyle radio stations. It will be followed by Closer Radio, an extension of Emap’s innovative woman’s weekly Closer magazine, which will launch on the second national digital multiplex next year (see Channel 4 Consortium Wins Radio Multiplex Licence)

The station will be predominantly music-based, but will include breaking celebrity news, user-generated content such as listener reports of celebrity sightings and celebrity takeover shows (see Heat Radio To Relaunch With Integrated Advertising).

The latest RAJARs, for Q1 2007, showed Heat’s radio offering to be up 0.9% year on year in its weekly reach, but down almost 9% quarter on quarter at 224,000 listeners (see Radio 2 Boosts Weekly Reach To Over 13 Million).
