Fourfourtwo Magazine – First Issue Review

Fourfourtwo Magazine – First Issue Review

FourFourTwo magazine is a new football magazine launched this week from Haymarket Publishers. It has an initial print run of 100,000 and a cover price of £2.10 which consists of 132 pages

In it’s first issue there is an interview with England manager Terry Venables, a look at some of the best and worst transfers in the premiership and an article tracing Sir Bobby Charlton’s football career. Regular features include; Latest Score a roundup of the latest footballing news and gossip,a letters page, Extra Time a complete monthly guide to football fixtures with TV and radio listings and Final Whistle a look back at a day in football history.

The general feel of the magazine is of quality though the articles do tend to go on for far too long. The cover price of £2.10 does seem to be expensive when compared to Match,Shoot and When Saturday Comes which are as much a third of the price. The overall feel of the magazine seems to suggest that this is aimed at the older footballing fans and may not be of interest to young teenagers, who currently dominate the market.

Of the 132 pages, 16 are given over to advertising: there is an editorial:ad ratio of 88:12. Main display advertisers include Nissan, Inter Sport and Umbro.
