Freeserve Backs New Advice Line With Major Ad Campaign

Freeserve is launching the industry’s first free package advice line with the backing of a multimillion pound marketing campaign.
The UK’s largest internet service provider will unveil an extensive television, radio and press campaign later this month to raise awareness of the advice line, which will help consumers chose the right internet package to suit their requirements.
The initiative follows research which shows that most consumers are confused about what internet package they should use and don’t know the difference between Freeserve’s broadband, AnyTime or No Ties offerings.
The Package Advice Line will be staffed by Freeserve advisers who will recommend services based on the individual’s current internet use and behaviour.
Commenting on the initiative, Keith Hawkins, Freeserve’s consumer managing director, said: “Our new Package Advice Line is a much needed customer innovation in this sector. There is so much conflicting information out there about different internet packages and many internet users are genuinely confused.”
He added: “What we’re doing is offering customers real advice so they get the product that is right for them, we’re not trying to sell them the most expensive product.”
The nationwide ad campaign will break on 1 October with a range of executions showing hippies in a state of confusion and a signpost pointing out the Freeserve’s various internet options. The ads have been designed by M&C Saatchi and media has been handled by Walker Media.
Earlier this month Freeserve launched an integrated cross media advertising campaign to raise awareness of its new broadband promotion, which offers users the chance to try its high-speed internet service for a month and get their money back if they decide not to commit to a regular subscription (see Freeserve Launches No Risk Broadband Promotion).
