Galaxy Targets Youth Consumers With Six-Figure TV Push

The Chrysalis-owned Galaxy Network is launching a six-figure TV ad campaign aimed at extending its reach amongst youth consumers.

The campaign launches tomorrow across the MTV network, E4, Trouble and Bravo. It includes three different executions, all of which feature the strapline “The dance and R&B you salute” against a soundtrack of core Galaxy artists including Lasgo and the SugaBabes.

In addition to the initial TV campaign, which was planned and scheduled by MediaVest, Yorkshire’s Galaxy 105 will run a parallel localised execution across the Yorkshire TV network throughout October.

Commenting on the campaign, Galaxy brand manager, Nick Button, said: “This latest campaign will push the Galaxy brand on a national level. The networks we have chosen to work with have a great synergy both in terms of brands and audiences and it is exciting to work with E4 and the Flextech network including Trouble and Bravo for the very first time”.

Last month Galaxy Network announced plans to launch a new weekly consumer magazine, called Galaxy Out There. The magazine, which is scheduled to launch in November 2002, will have an initial print run of 500,000 copies and will be distributed through Galaxy’s five regional transmission areas (see Chrysalis Launches Galaxy Spin-Off Magazine).

According to RAJAR data for the second quarter of 2002, the Total Galaxy Network has seen its weekly reach increase by 4.5% year on year to 2,603,000, up from 2,492,000 in the same period the previous year.
