GCap To Relaunch One Network

The One Network GCap Media is to relaunch its mainstream radio network, The One Network, which includes stations across the UK such as BRMB, Invicta FM, and Red Dragon.

The first of the major changes to The One Network will be the launch of two new network shows hosted by celebrity DJs Myleene Klass and Jeremy Kyle.

The network will also increase its coverage of showbiz news and celebrity gossip with the launch of The Entertainment Edge hosted by Ryan Seacrest.

Additionally, on-air changes will include the enhancement of the stations’ local news, views and information by offering up to the minute breaking news, traffic updates, travel information, gig listings and details of local events.

Supporting the new on-air activity, The One Network will undergo a full online relaunch.

All of The One Network station websites will offer a facility for new and upcoming artists to upload their music with a view to getting airplay live on the station.

Canvas, GCap Media’s in-house multimedia creative agency, has also developed a new visual identity for the network. GCap says that “the new logo has been redesigned to ensure that the overall brand identity better and consistently reflects the creative, fun and lively values of the network and its listeners, whilst the strapline, ‘haven’t you heard?’ communicates what’s most important to the listener – social stimulation”.

The relaunch of The One Network will be supported by a national and regional trade and consumer marketing campaign, the first for The One Network in seven years. The varying campaigns will comprise of a number of creative advertising executions, national and regional launch events and re-branded street marketing vehicles and teams.

Simon Daglish, national sales and trade marketing director, GCap Media, said: “This is a hugely exciting development for the country’s biggest radio network. The One Network is not only a great, vibrant brand, it’s a one-stop shop which offers clients the opportunity to reach consumers across the whole of the UK in an environment which is all about unrivalled content, big names and incredible production values.

“The re-vitalisation means continuity across all stations, backed by an in-depth understanding of our audience, providing better targeting for our customers.”

The latest RAJAR figures, for Q2 2007, show that The One Network stations had a weekly reach of 7.2 million, down from 7.4 million in Q2 2006.
