General Cable Losses Worsen

General Cable, the fifth largest cable operator in the UK, experienced increased losses in the nine months to the end of September, reaching £19.1 million compared to £14.8m last year, while revenues increased and churn decreased from 31% to 23%.

As with most cable companies at present, most of General Cable’s losses were attributable to the expansion of its network though the fall in churn is particularly encouraging. At 23% it is one of the lowest amongst UK cable operators: Telewest for example currently has a churn rate of 39.5% and Nynex has a rate of 30.9%.
