Google And Yahoo! Deal Delayed

Yahoo! Google has announced that its proposed $800 million (£455 million) search advertising deal with Yahoo! has been delayed due to the US Department of Justice (DoJ) investigation.

The DoJ said it needs time to continue its investigations into the deal and its implications on the industry, according to reports.

Both companies issued statements to explain the deal was being delayed to allow the DoJ to conclude its investigation.

A Google statement said: “When we announced our advertising agreement with Yahoo! in June we agreed to delay its implementation until October to give regulators time to look at the details.”

“As we are still in conversation with the Department of Justice we have agreed to a brief delay in implementing the agreement while those discussions continue,” the statement added.

The proposed deal between the two search giants is also currently under investigation by the European Competition Commissioner.
