Google launches Android barcode scanner

Google Logo Google is integrating barcode scanning into its Android mobile phone operating system.

The new application scans barcodes on products and allows users to find out how much the product retails for online, as well as providing links to other online information.

Google wrote on its blog: “Today, barcode scanning works best for products like electronics, books, movies, or video games, but we’re working on adding more bar codes for other items.

“Of course, if your scan does not return a result, you can always type in the product name just as before.”

Although there are similar apps available for the Android, this is the first official Google barcode scanner.
