Grampian Profits Up
Grampian Television has announced its interim results for the year ended August 31st. Group pre-tax profits are £8.147m compared to £2.924m for 1995, an increase of 178.6%. The high increase can be attributed to the £4.665m from the sale of Scot FM.
During the period there was also an increase in ad sales of 4%, compared to a growth of 3.4% for the ITV Network as a whole. Calum A. MacLeod, Grampian Television Chairman, said ” The sustained increase in operating profits owes much to the buoyant Scottish airtime market helping our sales house TSMS to achieve advertising sales which outperformed the ITV network. The new Broadcasting Act allows further concentration of media ownership but Grampian’s political lobby resulted in the Act ensuring the continuance of editorial control, production facilities and personnel based in North Scotland.”
