Greenwich Set For Millennium Victory

Greenwich will be chosen next week as the site of the Millennium Exhibition, according to a report in today’s Financial Times.

It has beaten off a strong challenge from Birmingham because it will provide a much bigger boost to the local economy, creating around 10,000 jobs and attracting millions of pounds in investments.

It is also expected that Virginia Bottomley, the heritage secretary, will announce that six other cities will play a minor ‘satellite’ role in the millennium celebrations.
