Guardian Becomes First Advertiser To Use Napkin Media
The Guardian is to become the first advertiser in the UK to use napkin media as part of a national campaign. The group is to use the medium to promote its personal finance website MoneyUnlimited, which launched last month (see Guardian Unlimited Launches Personal Finance Site).
Five million napkins will be distributed in sandwich bars in London bearing the message “Dough, Sheets, Wedge, Lolly – whatever you call it, we’ll help sort it”, and promoting a competition for the chance to pay off your mortgage.
The campaign will also cover one million sandwich bags in bars and cafes in Manchester.
Jules Griffith, brand manager of Guardian Unlimited, said: “Money Unlimited has great interactive content presented in a way that even the most financially phobic can not ignore. The napkin media in London, and sandwich bags in Manchester will reach people through their daily routine. They can log-on and sort out those postponed money matters all in a lunch break.”
