Hitwise Launches New Search Monitoring Product

Hitwise has launched a new search marketing analysis product to monitor how consumers use 70 of the world’s most popular search engines.
The new product, entitled Search Terms, reports on over 60,000 of the most popular websites worldwide, across the top 70 global search engines. The product revels which keywords are successfully typed into search engines, resulting in users clicking through to a website.
According to Hitwise, the new tool will enable businesses to identify what keywords their competitors are receiving traffic from in order to fully optimise their keyword campaigns. The increasing popularity of search targeted marketing has made detailed information on how consumers use search engines even more important.
Simon Chamberlain, general manager of Hitwise UK, commented: “This new tool is yet another way Hitwise can help businesses better understand how their competitors are using search marketing programmes to attract customers. This unique information can help marketers more effectively understand the most successful search terms used by their direct competitors or within their industry.”
Search Terms’ most recent findings make for interesting reading, the most popular television search term was Big Brother, while for radio it was the BBC’s flagship listings title, the Radio Times. Amongst movies Harry Potter topped the Search Time chart followed by 2 Fast 2 Furious.
Recent research from Hitwise revealed that traffic to internet news sites was boosted by the Iraq conflict (see News Sites Show No Signs Of War Fatigue).
