i-level Appoints Marks As First Ever Marketing Director

i-level, the independently-owned digital marketing agency, has expanded its senior management team with the appointment of Alex Marks as its first ever marketing director and Martin Shaw as buying director.

Marks joins from Opus, the sales and marketing operation for GWR, where he was head of trade marketing for a portfolio of commercial radio stations including Classic FM, The Mix and Classic Gold.

Shaw takes up the position of buying director, a role previously held by Faith Carthy, who was made group managing director last September. He joins from the newly merged mOne, where he worked as media director.

Commenting on the appointments Carthy said: “i-level is looking forward to a year of growth in an industry that we predict will grow by 65% in 2004 and we are looking to develop our management team to reflect this. These two appointments will continue to help give us the edge in this competitive environment.”

i-level has also expanded its offering to advertisers with the launch of a new division dedicated entirely to mobile marketing. Former Nightfly planning director, Nick Wiggin, will head i-level Mobile, which has been created in response to the growing role of mobile in the marketing mix.

It is understood that the new division will offer clients such services as advice on the best mobile marketing opportunities and improved campaign delivery through cost-effective planning and buying solutions.

i-level Mobile is already working on campaigns for a number of existing clients and is looking to recruit new staff over the next few months as part of a concerted effort to bring in new business. The new division will sit alongside the existing i-level Advertising, Partnerships and Generator operations.

Last month the lack of an industry agreed standard for web-advertising technology prompted a number of leading online agencies to call on media owners to get their ad-serving software audited.

i-level, Real Media, Profero, Outrider and Media.Com have come together to put their weight behind an initiative that will see third party ad-servers independently audited to industry agreed standards by ABC Electronic (see Online Agencies Call For Ad-Serving Software Audit).
