IDS Increases Focus On Interactive Advertising

Interactive Digital Sales (IDS) is increasing the size of its sales team and is dedicating more resources to interactive advertising, following the rapid growth in demand for interactive TV campaigns.

The sales house, which represents the Flextech and UKTV channels, has appointed its commercial development manager, Mark Conolly, manager of interactivity, with responsibility for increasing revenue from interactive initiatives.

Conolly will act as the company’s interactive spokesman and will also provide specialist knowledge to external sales conversations and commercial development projects.

A recent report from the IPA confirms the increasing popularity of interactive applications and suggests that it is the responsibility of advertisers and their agencies to become immersed in the new technology (see Interactive TV Here To Stay, Says IPA Report). A number of high-profile brands including Coca-Cola and Rimmel have also recently made the foray into interactive advertising emphasising the medium’s growing position in the marketing mix.

IDS has also appointed Juliette Sherwood as commercial development manager with responsibility for driving commercial partnerships and sponsorships for UK style with a selection of agencies and advertisers. A further four recruits are currently being sought to bolster the team.

Within agency sales, IDS has promoted Monica Manoras to the position of business development manager and has boosted the department’s graduate intake to increase service levels for major agencies.

Last October IDS restructured its business to focus more of its sell towards media planners and advertisers. The former sales department of Flextech Television merged its specialist agency sales, business development, client sales and sponsorship teams into two core divisions: agency sales and commercial development (see IDS To Shift Focus With Major Business Restructure).
