Independent London – Review

Independent London – Review

Today the Independent launches its tabloid London section, Independent London. The section is very thin, with only sixteen pages; there are two pages of ads, one display, for Mercury, and one of classifieds.

The first five pages carry London news, with articles on school places, a battered women’s sanctuary, and 24-hours in Piccadilly. There follows arts and entertainments listings, followed by one page of Travel. The section resembles a small regional newspaper, both in design as well as content. The listings section is very comprehensive.

The welcoming editorial says, “Its aim is to be entertaining and useful and to make London more useful and entertaining. It will tell you…what you can do in London and what London can do for you.”
