Independent On Sunday And Observer Relaunches

The Observer and Independent on Sunday newspapers are planning changes in the coming months.

A spokesman for the Independent on Sunday has confirmed that 13th August will see the first issue of the revamped newspaper. The pagination will increase in the three main sections; sport moves back to the main section from the business section; this will have pink pages. There will be a new section, Real Life. Real Life will be a 16 page broadsheet “magazine” aimed at 18-34 year old ABC1s, in particular women. The section will carry editorial and features. The section will use current ratecard until a new one is finalised.

The Observer has also been reported in the trade press to be launching a new section called Preview but a spokesman for the Observer says that these details are speculative and Preview is just an idea at the moment. He said that changes are planned for the autumn, and beyond.
