IPC Bolsters Weeklies Ad Sales Teams

IPC is expanding two teams within its weeklies sales division in an attempt to capitalise on the growing potential of the sector.
The move will see the sales team for IPC’s celebrity magazine, Now, and the Solutions team, which handles advertorials, sponsorship and bespoke campaigns across the IPC tx and IPC Connect portfolio, bolstered with a number of new appointments.
Following the expansion of the Now sales team last year, Sharon Lee has been appointed sales executive for Manchester and the North. She moves over from IPC’s Women’s and TV Weeklies sales division to work specifically for the gossip and celebrity-focussed title.
In addition, Solutions team account manager, Damien Maclonan, has been promoted to the new position of group account manager, reporting to sponsorship and promotions director, Will Hurrel. Matt Swarbrick has also been appointed as sales executive for the division. He takes up the position on 3 February from IPC Ignite, where he was classified ad manager.
Commenting on the appointments, Mark Reen, group ad sales director of IPC tx and IPC Connect, said: “Revenues have grown by 25% year on year for Now and the Solutions team working across both IPC tx and IPC Connect has seen sponsorship revenues grow by over 90% in the last 12 months with similar growth forecast for this year.”
Earlier this month IPC tx launched what it claimed to be the biggest ever consumer marketing campaign to promote its weekly What’s On TV magazine. The promotion gives readers the chance to ‘Live For Free In 2003’ by winning a range of prizes including a family car and free holidays for a year (see IPC Backs What’s On TV With Biggest Ever Promotion).
