IPC Major Launch – Women’s Weekly
IPC Magazines has today announced details of its new mass market women’s weekly magazine, Eva. Eva, aimed at C2D women aged 18 to 45, will be launched into the “easy entertainment” sector, alongside Chat and Take a Break
Editorially the title will cover celebrity gossip, true life/readers stories, and “newsy, quirky, human interest stories”. Eva aims to provide entertainment limiting traditional practical subjects, with just two pages each of fashion and cookery. There is no home or beauty.
Eva’s editor in chief Iris Burton said, “Eva is packed with over 50 stories each week in a busy, pick up put down format. There will be at least 16 pages of true life stories, many contributed by readers, and eleven pages of short, newsy human interest stories – the more unusual and amazing, the better!”
Chris Boyd, IPC Weeklies’ Group publishing director said, “There is clear evidence that the market is ready for something new. We believe that the Eva formula of providing the reader with the best value entertainment package will be highly successful.”
Eva will be handled by IPC’s Weeklies Group Sell operation, headed by Sly Grice. He commented, “With limited advertisement paging available in each issue (4 pages) demand is going to be high.”
Eva launches on Thursday September 8, with a cover price of 20p for the first four weeks, then 42p. The initial print run is 1,000,000.
