IPC Relaunches TV & Satellite Week To Boost Sales

IPCtx has relaunched TV & Satellite Week in an attempt to boost circulation and strengthen the magazine’s position in the increasingly competitive market.
The new look title has been completely refreshed and its pagination has been increased in an attempt to make it the most comprehensive listings magazine available to digital viewers. The move follows an extensive study into what its readers want to see.
The relaunch is being backed by a six-figure advertising campaign including television, press and e-marketing activity. There will also be a special price promotion for the first issue allowing readers to sample the magazine for the reduced price of 50p.
Commenting on the initiative, the magazine’s editor, Jonathan Bowman, said: “Our readers always come first and the new-look magazine really delivers against their needs. It’s bigger-sized, with 12 additional pages each week covering more of the channels we know our readers enjoy watching.”
The redesign comes just months after H Bauer shook-up the television listings market with the launch of a new weekly magazine entitled The Total TV Guide. The magazine is positioned at the premium end of the listings market and targets men and women aged between 25 and 44 who subscribe to multichannel television (see H Bauer Goes Totally TV With New Listings Title).

The latest ABC results for the six months to June 2003 show that TV & Satellite Week saw its circulation increase by 0.9% year on year to 254,445. However, analysis over a longer five year period paints a more positive picture with sales rising in-line with the increasing popularity of digital television.
TV & Satellite Week is currently the lowest circulating IPCtx title in the television listings magazine market. It sits behind someway TV Times, which circulates at 529,632 and the market leading What’s On TV with 1,689,621.
