Ita Murphy returns to WPP as UK CEO of SYZYGY

The former MD of Mindshare, Ita Murphy, has been appointed UK CEO of WPP-owned digital agency group, SYZYGY.

Murphy worked at Mindshare from 2000 until 2012, following which she served as client strategy director at News UK. She joins SYZYGY from her position as head of media at Lloyds Banking Group.

In her new role, Murphy will be responsible for leading and developing the agency’s positions in the UK market as a specialist digital agency that aligns strategy with creative and media, providing a “fully integrated service offering” for clients.

“What really strikes me about SYZYGY is how it creates rapid step change and uplift in a client’s business by aligning every digital touchpoint – creative, data and media combined – around the customer,” Murphy said.

“By designing experiences across media and owned platforms that consider the entire user journey, SYZYGY is able to break down client silos, getting the best from disparate client teams – who often have different objectives – and focus everyone in on the customer experience. I feel confident clients want to work with a full-service, digital specialist who creates a clear strategy, which is executed transparently.”

Murphy will report to Lars Lehne, group CEO, who said: “I’m delighted to have Ita join the global management team to increase the expertise and bandwidth of our UK operations.

“Ita is a very rare breed of leader that brings to the table sales, agency and brand-side experience and on top of that she will be great fun to work with. As well as being a seasoned business leader, Ita’s time as a management coach means she will bring a fresh perspective and energy to the development of SYZYGY UK’s talent.”
