ITC: TV Advertising Sales Arrangements
The Independent Television Commission reviewed questions regarding television advertising sales arrangements at their meeting on July 11. Following requests for guidance, the ITC confirmed the policy issued in February 1995, and said that in applying the 25% market share criterion, the Commission will be guided by current market shares and not by future changes in market shares.
The 1995 statement stated that sales forces selling advertising for television licensees, can account for up to 25% of sales on television advertising revenue licensees. The ITC are able to consent to market share exceeding 25% of the revenue, to a limited degree, if it is judged that “the compelling interest of smaller television licensees require this and that the effect would not be prejudicial to fair and effective competition in the television advertising sales market.”
