ITV Football World Cup Coverage

ITV has released plans for its coverage of the 1994 World Cup. ITV and BBC, who have exclusive rights to coverage, announced in January that they would alternate matches.

Details of ITV’s coverage of the first round matches start on 18 June, with the first two Ireland matches covered by ITV, and the third by the BBC.

Richard Emery, Director of Market Strategy at ITV, commented, “Even though England will not be at the event, it will still attract huge audiences. Early indications are that UK fans are adopting Ireland as their team for 1994.”

When it is the BBC’s turn to cover a match, ITV will screen big films.
