JCDecaux Airport Mixes Media For Football Promotion

JCDecaux Airport employed a range of ambient and promotional media to target the 50 charter flights full of European football fans arriving at Edinburgh and Glasgow airports for the UEFA Champion’s League Cup final last Wednesday. The media space was booked by Ford and Amstel.

JCDecaux Airport’s director of regions, Murray Bothwell, commented: “Ford and Amstel made the best use of the precious space in our airports. Combining a mix of media, both brands have been able to touch and react with the consumer en route to the game.”

A combination of floor and wall graphics, pillar and wall wraps, leafleting and Samba bands were used to greet the fans, and staff of both the concessionaires and the airport teams were given Amstel hats to wear. Some of the media locations were developed specifically for the event.

A similar approach was taken by Maiden this year to give sports website attheraces.co.uk “ownership” of Aintree station and public transport routes to the Grand National (see Maiden Helps Attheraces Lead The Field At Aintree) and the company has said it plans to offer a similar package for Wimbledon.
