JCDecaux Unveils Sneezing Bus Shelters

JCDecaux is launching a bus shelter campaign for Novartis Aller-eze nasal spay that will sneeze at passers-by.

In what is believed to be a media first for the outdoor industry, ten sonic bus shelters around the country will play a loop of four different sneezes in an attempt to attract the attention of passers by.

The bus shelters in in London, Manchester, Nottingham and Hull will sneeze between 9am and 6pm daily and will be supported by bus side advertising.

Commenting on the initiative, Nicola McKeon, brand manager for Novartis, said: “We are now coming into hayfever season and the familiar sounds of sneezing will immediately catch the attention of sufferers. It also adds a touch of humour to the campaign, which we are sure consumers will appreciate.”

The campaign was booked with JCDecaux Innovate by Mediaedge:cia through Portland Outdoor. The creative was devised by Euro RSCG life.

Earlier this year JCDecaux launched a campaign to promote UIP’s Wild Thornberrys movie using twenty jungle fever sonic bus shelters to re-create the jungle atmosphere featured in the film (see JCDecaux Promotes New UIP Movie With Sonic Bus Shelters).

Outdoor contractors appear to be going to greater lengths to make their bus shelters more interesting and Adshel recently launched a new water-filled advertising format to promote the latest moisture resistant trousers from Dockers (see Adshel Launches New Wet Ad Format For Dockers Campaign).
