Kent Messenger revamps its Extra series

Kent Messenger Logo Kent Messenger has revamped the eight titles in its free Extra series and plans to trial user-generated content in the Canterbury edition in a bid to push its paid-for titles.

The regional publisher has redesigned the Extra series, which include the Ashford Extra, Canterbury Extra, Folkestone & Dover Extra, Gravesend, Dartford & Swanley Extra, Maidstone Extra, Medway Extra, Sittingbourne Extra and Thanet Extra, in a brighter uniform style.

In response to research by the publishing group, Canterbury Extra will use its radio and digital formats to drive editorial and reader engagement and loyalty.

The Extra series will continue to be used to create awareness and drive sales for the Kent Messenger’s paid-for titles, as well as promoting its online and radio offerings, according to the publisher.

The online versions of the titles use page-turning technology and deliver click-through adverts.

Sarah O’Hara, Kent Messenger’s brand manager, said interacting with readers and developing user-generated content is vital to move forwards in this ever-changing industry.

O’Hara added that by refreshing the Extra series, the group has opened channels of communication with its readers and is developing audience touch points.

Titles in the Extra series have a combined circulation of 384,695.
