LinkedIn launches new search service

LinkedIn Site LinkedIn, the business social networkng site, has launched a new search service that enables users to refine their searches for other members.

The new platform will allow members to fill in more than a dozen data fields, such as name, company and school, in order to find fellow members, according to reports.

LinkedIn have also added an ‘In Common’ feature to help locate shared connections between members – users will be able to save searches and receive emails when a search finds someone with the specific criteria.

The new service also aims to increase the amount of search space presented, as users will no longer need to switch tabs.

Esteban Kozak, senior product manager at LinkedIn, said the service is “redefining the way professionals go about finding talent, business partners, customers, or a former colleague”.

LinkedIn recently released positive financial results and secured $22.7 million (£14.3 million) in new funding.

However, earlier this month the company announced plans to make around 36 members of its staff redundant due to the current economic climate.
