The Football Association has announced the first ever sponsor of the FA Cup; Littlewoods Pools. The official title of the cup will be “The FA Cup sponsored by Littlewoods Pools”, not the Littlewoods FA Cup.
FA commercial director Trevor Phillips said “We will not forget the tradition and dignity of a great competition. A robust and commercial programme is needed to put money back into the game.”
FA chiefs pledged that money from sponsorship of the FA Cup will be ploughed back into the game at all levels. The four-year package is worth £14m.
