London Underground Launches Tube Magazine

The London Underground has launched a new magazine, called Tube, which will be distributed by mail to over 300,000 monthly and season ticket holders.
The magazine, published by John Brown Citrus, will be A5-sized and its 32 pages will contain a combination of features and advertising.
Sian Phillips, editor of the new title, told Newsline: “The magazine will contain a mixture of features about London life and the tube. We will address the issues surrounding travelling by tube in a fun and lively way.”
The Metro newspaper, which is distributed free at underground stations throughout London, has successfully proved the advertising potential of targeting tube passengers. However, the new Tube magazine, which was tested on 8,000 underground users last April, will only be distributed by post.
Phillips said: “We are not seeking to emulate the Metro, at the moment the magazine will only be mailed out to travelcard holders. It will not be distributed freely in underground stations.”
Earlier this month it was announced the managing director of the Metro newspaper, Mike Anderson, is to replace Sally de la Bedoyere, as managing director of the Evening Standard (see Evening Standard Managing Director Steps Down).
