Maiden Uses Ambient To Promote Eurostar At Waterloo

Maiden Outdoor has launched a unique ambient advertising campaign at London’s Waterloo station to promote the opening of the new high-speed Eurostar line.
In the first floor media campaign of its kind, the outdoor contractor has joined forces with TBWA and Eurostar to produce a 103 metre long vinyl strip that will run across the concourse to the Eurostar terminal at Waterloo station.
In the form of a runway, the large scale floor media has been designed to demonstrate the claim that the new Eurostar link can take passengers to the heart of Paris and is more convenient that flying.
The floor media campaign will form part of a wider pan-European push to promote the benefits of the new Eurostar service throughout October and November. Other activity includes Maiden Outdoor’s Transvision network of advertising screens, banners and large station panels.
Last month Maiden Outdoor secured the contract to market 6-sheet posters across Birmingham’s Bullring shopping and leisure site, which promises to bring ‘shopping heaven’ to Birmingham, with 26 football pitches worth of shops, boutiques and restaurants (see Maiden Secures Bullring Contract In Birmingham).
Maiden recently announced that it has seen first half revenue growth above company expectations, despite continued challenging economic and advertising conditions. Its first half results showed a pre-tax loss of £1.9 million, down from the loss of £2.3 million in H1 2002, whilst group turnover rose by 6% to a record £41.4 million (see Maiden Sees Better Visibility In Outdoor Sector).
