Marie Claire Health And Beauty Cuts Frequency

IPC title, Marie Claire Health and Beauty, is cutting its frequency to bi-monthly in a bid to survive in the highly competitive fashion and beauty sector.

Publishing director, Rita Lewis, said: “We are fully committed to this sector, and in the ongoing development of the Marie Claire Health and Beauty brand. However, despite doubling our ad revenues and significantly increasing our share of both advertising and circulation volumes, we have still not been able to generate enough ad revenue to sustain monthly frequency. We are therefore returning to bi-monthly status for the time being.”

IPC launched the title as a bi-annual spin off from Marie Claire in 1994 and the magazine has been struggling in an increasingly competitive market. Its circulation, according to the latest ABC results, was 73,540, compared with Natmag’s Zest at 119,089.
