McInternet Deal Is A Tasty Opportunity For Espotting

Search targeted marketing network Espotting has secured a deal to provide content and search facilities to internet kiosks installed in McDonald’s restaurants across the UK.

The kiosks are due to be installed in 200 locations over the course of the year following successful trials in 26 of the fast food chain’s restaurants. Espotting has developed 10 channels for the new kiosks, which will allow customers to search the web through branded McInternet terminals.

The wide-ranging deal will see a range of McDonald’s products prioritised in Espotting’s search results and targeted at a predicted 10 million internet users per month by the end of this year.

Espotting’s services will run on a platform designed by DVE. Managing director of the platform provider, Mike Kellond, said: “This deal enables McDonald’s to provide our users with targeted, relevant content through a McDonald’s branded interface. The deal signifies McDonald’s dedication to our internet terminals.”

The impending launch of the branded McInternet internet kiosks follows a landmark deal between the fast food giant and BT Group to install wireless broadband services in hundreds of restaurants across the UK from the end of March.

BT already has an extensive network of WiFi Hotspots at locations targeted at business travellers, including airports, railway stations and hotels. However, it hopes the tie-up with McDonald’s will make the network more accessible to a wide-base of consumers (see BT Extends Wireless Network With McDonald’s Deal).
