Media In The City: SMG Postpones Plans To Float Virgin Radio

MediaTel Insight Logo Last week, SMG announced that its revenues were flat at £88.5 million, with the group understood to be postponing its plans to float its Virgin Radio business.

SMG also announced that it appointed former Chrysalis radio chief executive Richard Huntingford as executive chairman of Virgin Radio (Full Story).

Havas, the global advertising and communications services group, reported growth of 16.9% in income for the first half of 2007, adding that income from operations was up 16.9% to €75 million.

At euro;729 million in first half 2007, group revenue was up +1.3% in gross terms compared to the first half of 2006 (Full Story).

GCap Media revealed that it expected like for like total revenue growth in the second quarter of the financial year to be around 6% (Full Story), whilst Emap said that it expects its continuing group revenue to be up 1% in total in the first half of 2007 (Full Story).

Daily Mail and General Trust also released an interim report, announcing an 8% year-on-year rise in total advertising revenues (Full Story).

Meanwhile, Aegis Group acquired Metra Seis, Spain’s largest independent full-service market research agency (Full Story).
