Media In The City: WPP’s Q3 Revenues Up 4.9%

MediaTel Insight Logo Last week in the City we saw WPP announce that its third quarter revenues were up 4.9% to £1.48 billion.

The group reported constant currency growth of 5% in the UK, compared with 3.7% in the first half, whilst North American revenues were up 8%, compared with 8.3% in the first half (Full Story).

Search engine giant Google reported a 41.6% rise in third-quarter pre-tax profits to $1.47 billion, whilst its revenues for the quarter were $4.23, a 57% increase over third quarter 2006 revenues of $2.69 billion (Full Story).

Eric Schmidt, CEO of Google, said: “We are very pleased with the impressive growth we experienced across our business. Our core search advertising business experienced continued momentum driven by growth in monetisation and traffic, and we are creating a wider and deeper ads system through our focus on innovation, bringing more ad formats to our advertisers.”

It was a different story with Yahoo! however, which reported Q3 pre-tax profits of $151 million (£74.2 million), a decline of 5% year on year.

Overall, Yahoo!’s revenues for the three months to September rose by 12% to $1.768 billion against $1.58 billion in the same quarter last year (Full Story).
