MySpace is rolling-out a new international video streaming service that will allow users to view content on their mobile phones.
Mobile users will be able to watch all MySpace-hosted videos on a range of multimedia phone handsets, including the Nokia N95, Motorola Q9, Palm Centro and Blackberry Bold.
The social networking site, which claims to be the first to launch video streaming for mobiles, will use technology by RipCode that works in real-time.
The technology can also play video content across a variety of handsets, screen sizes and playback specifications, according to reports.
MySpace claims that 10 million global unique users access its mobile site each month, generating around three billion page views.
John Faith, vice-president and general manager of mobile for MySpace, said: “Video is the natural next step for us in mobile. MySpace will continue to grow our library as we increase delivery channels, in order to keep pace with our users’ accelerating desire for video consumption.”
