New FM Licence For Greater London

New FM Licence For Greater London

The Radio Authority has announced that it is advertising a new ILR licence for the Greater London area. The new service will utilise the frequency formerly used by Melody Radio 104.9 MHz and will reach around 5.9 million adults.

In making its decision about who will win the licence, the Radio Authority will consider applicants’ proposals to cater for the tastes and interests of listeners in the area and to broaden the range of audience choice in relation to existing ILR services which are available. The licence will run for a period of eight years.

The Authority hopes to make its decision three months after the closing date, which is 9th July.
