IPC Connect’s celebrity weekly Now has unveiled a new look, featuring a fresh design and a more direct layout.
IPC says that the mag, which features more celebrity photos and fashion tips, now interacts completely with its website, nowmagazine.co.uk.
The refresh has been guided by editor Helen Johnston, who joined the title in April this year.
New elements for the magazine include more insider analysis on the stories behind the news, with prompts to readers to seek out nowmagazine.co.uk throughout the magazine, Now Style – 20 pages of the week’s hottest looks and Now You – 13 pages of health, real life, travel and food.
Johnston said: “Refreshing one of the most popular weekly magazines in the UK has been an enormous amount of fun. The Now brand has fantastic heritage and we’re enjoying ourselves more than ever. Now is simply brimming with news, pictures and lifestyle – all wrapped up in a new and distinctive Now tone of voice.”
Andrew Sumner, Now publishing director, added: “Helen is an editor of huge talent, dynamism and experience. Since joining in April 2007, she has worked with her editorial team to produce a stunning, contemporary celebrity weekly with a sharp, amusing tone of voice and unrivalled breadth of celebrity content.
“Whether it’s on the newsstand or online, Now is the UK’s premier one-stop resource for up-to-the-minute global celebrity and style news.”
In March of this year, Now appointed Beverley Watts as online editor, reporting directly to Helen Johnston (see Now Gets New Online Editor).
At the start of the month, IPC launched a new online women’s lifestyle portal called goodtoknow.co.uk, which will act as the central portal of IPC Connect’s weekly titles Now, Woman’s Weekly, Pick Me Up and Woman’s Own (see IPC Unveils Women’s Online Lifestyle Portal).
At the last ABCs, Now magazine had a total circulation figure of 540,132, down over 37,500 copies year on year (see ABC Results Jul-Dec 2006:Take A Break Leads Women’s Weekly Market).
Emap recently announced that it will be changing the frequency of its women’s title First and giving it more of a celebrity focus (see Emap To Relaunch First Magazine).
IPC’s new title Look (see NewsLine Feature: Look, Another Women’s Weekly) is expected to perform well in this Thursday’s magazine ABCs, after MediaGuardian reported last Friday that data had been made available on the ABC website (see ABC Launches Investigation Into Magazine Leak).
NewsLine will have full coverage and in-depth analysis of the major sectors following the ABC concurrent release for the first six months of 2007 on Thursday.
