Nuts has launched a one-off special 3D edition of the men’s weekly title.

This week’s Nuts magazine comes with a pair of 3D glasses to view the 3D front-cover and additional 20 pages of original 3D content, which includes features on the new shooter game Rage, a selection of Nuts‘ favourite cover girls and an image of the F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft.

Dominic Smith, editor of Nuts, said: “There’s a huge amount of interest in 3D at the moment, fuelled by Hollywood blockbusters such as Avatar and Clash of the TitansNuts is always at the cutting-edge of innovation so we owed it to our readers to deliver a 3D treat in an entertaining way.

“We’re proud to be bringing a bit of Hollywood to the UK weekly men’s lifestyle market for the first time.”

Jo Smalley, publishing director, added: “This distinct 3D offering is a real newsstand event – we wanted to excite readers, retailers and advertisers with an issue that showcases the very best of Nuts. With the phenomenal topicality of 3D, we’re sure imitations will follow, but we’re thrilled to offer the first issue of its kind in our hotly contested market.”

To promote the 3D issue, Nuts has commissioned a digital campaign to run on MTV, Sportpost.com, www.NME.com and www.Mousebreaker.com.  It will also be advertised on the nuts.co.uk homepage.  In total, the campaign is expected to reach an audience of one million men.

The Nuts 3D special will hit the shops today, with an increased print run to capitalise on the expected increase in sales.

In the last ABC release, for July to December 2009, Nuts shed 24.4% of its total circulation, taking it down to below 177,000 copies.
