Observer To Merge Magazines
The Observer magazine is to close its glossy magazine from the beginning of April, merging its contents with those of the current Life tabloid, which contains the review section. The new magazine, which will not be sold until mid March, will combine the most successful parts of the two existing magazines, as well as including more sections. Plans for the new magazine are far from finalised as yet. Neville Brody is designing the new-look magazine. The revamp is announced just five months after the Guardian bought the Observer and the current magazines were introduced.
The National Magazine Company has sold its consumer title, Antique Collector, to Orpheus Publications, in a continuing move to focus on mainstream titles.
