OOH grows 1% in Q1

UK OOH ad revenue in Q1 2025 grew by a modest 1% to £294.5m, according to trade body Outsmart.

This is much weaker than growth seen in Q1 2024, when ad revenue increased by 16.4% year on year.

Digital revenue grew by a slightly stronger 1.6%, with its share of total revenue roughly in line with Q1 2024 at 65%.

Revenue for classic OOH, meanwhile, fell by 0.2%.

“Against the backdrop of broader macroeconomic impacts affecting the overall advertising industry during the last six months, it’s reassuring to see growth in OOH,” said Justin Cochrane, chair of Outsmart.

“We look forward to continuing to deliver for brands engaging and connecting with their audiences at scale.”

The figures were collated by PwC.

Earlier this year, Outsmart called on the government to support growth in the sector by removing business rates on social infrastructure and extending express planning consents.

OOH ad revenue hit a record high in 2024 to reach £1.4bn, growing by 7.7% year on year.
