Opus Appoints Parkinson As New Regional Director

Opus has announced that Phil Parkinson will take over from Dominic Barker as regional director of its Manchester-based division with immediate effect.
Parkinson will step up from his previous role as team leader to oversee all revenue streams for the company outside of London. He will report directly to Peter Charlton, national sales director at Opus.
Commenting on the appointment, Charlton said: “The Opus regional team in Manchester have had a very strong year and Phil is undoubtedly the right person to lead the team into the new year. His loyalty, motivation and unequalled experience in the northern media market make him ideally suited to develop our clients business on our airwaves.”
Parkinson joined Opus in 1996 as sales executive for the company, which handles airtime sales for 54 radio stations across the UK, including Classic FM and Planet Rock and The Core. Prior to that he was sales executive for a Manchester-based listings magazine called City Life.
Opus recently secured a £2 million deal to promote the Carphone Warehouse on Classic FM, in its biggest sponsorship agreement to date. The six-month deal marked the first time a sponsorship and promotion has run simultaneously across Classic FM’s radio, television, online and magazine platforms (see Opus Secures Biggest Ever Ad Deal For Classic FM).
