Palin’s Travels Continue To Triumph

Catwalk Dogs New ITV1 comedy drama, Catwalk Dogs, was watched by 4.6 million adult viewers on average last night, giving the channel a 21.7% audience share between 9pm and 10.30pm.

The feature-length romantic comedy about the weird world of dog shows starred Kris Marshall, aka the particularly annoying one from My Family or the BT guy, and a cast of fluffy critters.

However, Michael Palin’s travels around Poland in his New Europe series were seen by around 5.6 million adults on average, giving BBC One a 25% share between 9pm and 10pm.

Earlier, it was ITV1 who won the 8pm to 9pm slot, with nostalgic hospital drama, The Royal. This week’s episode saw Dr Banner tasked with stopping a mentally ill man being sent to an institution, which lured an audience of over 6.3 million, or a 27.7% share at the time.

Over on BBC One, popular Sunday evening fayre in the form of Antiques Roadshow, was watched by more than 5.5 million adults on average, giving the channel a 24.1% share.

Meanwhile, over on Five, Patrick ‘Snake Hips’ Swayze cut some rug in chick flick Dirty Dancing, with almost 2.6 million adults (11.4%) tuning in to the sexy classic.

Strictly Come Dancing‘s results show, on between 7pm and 7.30pm on Saturday evening, drew more than 6.3 million (30.3%) to BBC One, whilst it’s main programme on Saturday night easily beat ITV1’s The X Factor.

The X Factor‘s first live performance show was seen by more than 5.4 million adults on average over its two-hour duration, giving ITV1 a 30% share, whilst Strictly Come Dancing attracted almost 7.1 million, a 38% share between 5,30pm and 7pm.

The results show for the singing contest, which saw Sharon Osbourne lose her first contestant, attracted an average adult audience of almost 6.2 million, giving ITV1 a 32.6% viewing share during the BBC One News and the start of Match of the Day.
