Pepsi returns to the arena with an epic campaign

Pepsi is returning to the arena, nearly 20 years after their iconic “Roman Empire” campaign conquered pop culture. This time around, the brand is teaming up with the highly anticipated sequel “Gladiator II” and a roster of NFL superstars to launch a campaign guaranteed to captivate fans.

“Make Your Gameday Epic™”

The centerpiece is a short film titled “Make Your Gameday Epic™.” It features artist Megan Thee Stallion as “Empress Megan,” leading a legion of NFL superstars including Josh Allen, Derrick Henry, Justin Jefferson, and Travis Kelce. These “Gridiron Gladiators” battle it out in a coliseum setting, with ice-cold Pepsi at the heart of the action.

A brand-new gameday anthem from the three-time Grammy-winning artist sets the tone for the campaign. The unmistakable “boom, boom, clap” of Queen’s “We Will Rock You” is reimagined with Megan’s signature style and cutting-edge lyrics. The new track is now available on all major music streaming platforms.

“I’m honored to follow in the footsteps of the legends who appeared in this Gladiator campaign 20 years ago and proud to have carved my own new legacy,” said Megan Thee Stallion.

“This seismic campaign captures the essence of the excitement and anticipation fans have for gameday”

Fans can catch the short film on Pepsi’s YouTube channel and national television tonight before the NFL game. Additionally, the campaign extends beyond the screen with a variety of activations.

“This gladiator-inspired campaign is a continuation of our brand’s long history of being on the forefront of culture, collaborating with iconic artists and celebrating football,” said Jenny Danzi, Head of Brand Marketing – Pepsi. “This seismic campaign captures the essence of the excitement and anticipation fans have for gameday and delivers the kind of entertainment our audience has come to expect from us!”

With a short film worthy of the Colosseum, a superstar soundtrack, and interactive activations, Pepsi’s “Make Your Gameday Epic™” campaign promises to be a touchdown this season.
