Pinterest unveils AI-powered auto-collages and new trend forecast features

Pinterest has announced AI-powered auto-collages and enhancements to its Trends tool.

Developed with Pinterest Ad Labs, the auto-collage feature enables advertisers to turn their existing Pinterest product catalogue into shoppable collages in minutes.

The tool curates, cuts out and groups together product images based on outfit ideas, user engagement, similar products and user saves.

Early tests on auto-collages found that users saved them at twice the rate of regular product pins.

Meanwhile, Pinterest is also harnessing AI in enhancements to its Trends tool to offer insights into consumer trends, helping brands forecast what users are interested in buying.

These updates enable brands to see what users are saving to their boards and buying on retailers’ websites, resulting in more informed decisions around upcoming campaigns.

The tool also groups trends into high-level themes based on what users are saving, providing brands with more visibility and accuracy on top trends.

Insights from the Editor’s Picks feature within the tool also allow brands to respond to cultural trends that resonate with users and create memorable campaigns.

Subbu Chandrasekaran, who leads marketing platforms at eBay, which has been testing the updates to Trends, said: “Pinterest’s trends data is highly valuable for understanding what matters to shoppers on any given day.

“It not only offers insights into what users are actively searching for but also enables us to build systems that identify which trends are truly shoppable.”

Pinterest will showcase the new auto-collages and Trends updates at the 2025 Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, which starts next week.
