Popworld Appoints Flytxt For SMS Marketing Drive

Popworld magazine has appointed wireless marketing company Flytxt to launch an SMS service for its readers.

The first issue of the magazine will be supported by an SMS advertising campaign and text messages will be used to build interactivity into the Popworld brand, which also includes an online presence and a Channel 4 television show.

Flytxt is arranging a variety of text to win competitions, which will enable Popworld to collect a range of demographic data on its readers.

The first of these competitions will invite readers to text their name and date of birth to a special number, for the change to win a trip to New York to see Jutin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera in concert.

Popworld hopes that the SMS service will allow readers to interact more readily with the magazine, which intends to make text a much bigger part of its overall strategy in the future.

Flytxt recently launched a mobile marketing campaign to support the release of paramount pictures new romantic comedy, How To Loose A Guy In Ten Days (see Flytxt Launches How To Lose A Guy SMS Campaign).

The latest monthly figures from the MDA show that text messaging reached an all time high in March, with an average of 56 million SMS messages sent each day during the month (see Text Messaging Hits All Time High In March).
