Renewed Calls For Tobacco Ban
Yesterday there were renewed calls for a ban on tobacco advertising as a report on the first 16 months of the Health of the Nation strategy showed the government has not met some of its key targets.
The government’s target on teenage smoking was that it should fall by 33% among 11 to 15 year olds. The news that it has remained static, and the failure to cut cigarette consumption as fast as intended, has brought renewed calls from the British Medical Association and Action on Smoking and Health for a tobacco advertising ban.
